TYLER X STAMP DUTY

The first time we were introduced to Tyler was by serendipity. Walking down Horniman Circle, only to find the steps of Asiatic littered with models of black cats made us ask a variety of questions. Of them, the most prescient was “Who?”. Years later we’re collaborating with him and still asking that question. The novelty of anonymity amused us - hearing of him selling art pieces much like a drug dealer was fascinating - “Come to this cafe at this time, speak to this waiter, pay him and leave with your artwork.”
We came to realise that anonymity is novel, but for him, it might just be a necessity. In our climate, the art he makes is important.

Which is why collaborating with Tyler is so important to us. Partly because of the long parasocial romance we’ve had with his persona and work, but more so that supporting artists making a difference has been important to us since the inception of Stamp Duty.
